Quilotoa Tour
One of the 15 lagoons of volcanic origin
Tour Quilotoa
Quilotoa is considered one of the 15 most beautiful lagoons of volcanic origin in the world.

Quilotoa, considered one of the 15 most beautiful lagoons of volcanic origin in the world, is located at 12 795 feet above sea level. Its beautiful waters reflect different colors, due to the minerals that exist in it. They make it look unique and colorful. When you approach its edge you can see bubbles, this indicates that the crater is still active.
It is located on the volcanic front west of Latacunga city. It has had a series of plinian eruptions of moderate to large size, at intervals between 10 and 15 thousand years.
The last eruption took place approx. 800 years (12th century), producing large pyroclastic flows of pumice and a fall deposit that is distributed throughout the North of the country.
It should be noted that this ash buried several pre-Columbian agricultural areas, which apparently forced the migration of the indigenous peoples who inhabited them (Mothes and Hall, 1998).
